Penang Post Card Competition

As many of you know, KDU Penang is a joint organiser in the Penang PostCard Competition. Details are as follows.

Introduction

This competition is jointly organized by Penang State Tourism Development & Culture and KDU College Sdn Bhd, Penang. Entries must reach the organizers by 31 August 2009.

The objective

To further generate interest in Penang tourism, culture and heritage.

Competition

1. Themes

The themes of the Penang Postcard Competition are:
· Penang Heritage & Culture
· Penang Scenes of Every Day Life
· Penang: the Modern, Quirky and Humorous Side
· Penang Food
· Penang Flora and Fauna

Participants may send in as many entries/themes as they wish. However, a participant can only win one (1) prize.


2. Conditions

The photos submitted by the participant must be an original work that has not been previously exhibited, published, reproduced or shown in any manner whatsoever. All entries must be submitted by hand or by post on a CD-ROM (jpeg or TIFF format only) containing the artwork and printed in 8RW (8"x12") or 10R (10”x 12”) on photo paper and mounted with 1” x 1” borders. The resolution must be in 300dpi. The photographs submitted may only contain the original images without manipulation. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. The CD must be labeled with the entrant’s name, NRIC and email address. Entries will not be returned. The winning entries would be converted into postcard images for the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture.


3. Prizes for Student and Open categories

· 1^st Prize – RM2,000 + Certificate
· 2^nd Prize –RM1,500 + Certificate
· 3^rd Prize – RM1,000 + Certificate
· 2 Consolation Prizes – RM500 each + Certificate
· A certificate of participation will be awarded to all entrants.

An official prize presentation ceremony will be organized at a stipulated date at KDU College Sdn Bhd Penang and prize winners shall be invited to attend.

Beach Outing

To all members:

I am pretty sure all of you would have received an e-mail by now regarding the beach outing, a get-to-know each other and group bonding activity. This would be a great time to actually know your fellow members of the club so I do hope everyone or at least, most of you will participate in this. Here are the details:

Venue: Beach (Near Dalat International School)
Dress code: Anything comfortable

Meeting!

To all members, we are really sorry that we had to cancel the outing today due to certain reasons. For those who were looking forward to the outing, we apologise for the last minute cancellation. We shall try to prevent that from happening again. In the meantime, keep up your love and passion for photography =]

Next outing.

There will be another photography outing sometime during next week. The theme this time around is about nature. We hope more members will take part in this outing. Here are the details:

Outing @ Esplanade

Update

For those that missed the AGM last friday,

We will be having our first photoshoot session this coming friday, 10th April @ 1.30 p.m
ALL members are STRONGLY encouraged to come, as attendance will be taken. This is a great chance to meet and fellowship with the other members of the club.

The topic for this photoshoot is, historical places around penang. We will meet at Esplanade(ask a friend or check google maps if you dont know where it is) and later break up into groups. Individual groups will be free to walk around and later meet back at 4pm. Further details will be posted up on the notice boards outside the lifts in the old phase around college, as well as on this blog. Do check often.

Also, we have decided to have meetings twice a month. Meetings will be held on Friday every two weeks. To those that have not paid their subs, please pay up to the either the treasurer or assistant treasurer ASAP. The fees are RM5 every 6 months.
